Thunderbird

2002 - 2005 Thunderbird Wire WheelAfter Ford ceased production of the tenth generation Thunderbird in 1997, there wouldn’t be another Thunderbird available until 2002, when the new retro body style debuted. While sales weren’t incredibly high in the four-year production run, these Thunderbirds are favorites among the classic car crowd. However, the original wheels for these cars left a little to be desired—that’s why Roadster Wire Wheels debuted a very stylish replacement for the modern-looking aluminum wheel.

These wire wheels are sized at 17×7 inches and feature the correct backspacing and lug bolt pattern to fit directly into place without any modifications. The wheels feature a lip-laced design, which is very similar to the Thunderbird wire wheels of yesteryear. However, the 2002-2005 Thunderbird wheel features 72 spokes, as compared to the old wheels’ design, which featured 56 spokes. The additional spokes and 17-inch diameter provides a glimpse of modern style to the wheel, without compromising on the heritage of the classic Thunderbird wire wheel. Combine these wheels with a set of American Classic 235/55R17 whitewall tires and you can transform your late model T-Bird into a head-turning blend of old and new.

With 3/16-inch, stainless steel spokes held in place with stainless steel nipples, there is no chance for rusting issues, and the structure is very strong, meaning that truing will not be necessary. The rim is rolled from steel and treated to a three-layer chrome plating process both on the inside and outside. These wheels are American made using American materials, and they’re expertly tested for strength and trueness before being shipped out of our facility. Quality craftsmanship is a high priority at Roadster Wire Wheels, and the proof is in the finished product.

Just like the Thunderbird wire wheels of years past, these 17-inch versions are available with a three-blade spinner hub cap, which is available in blue, red, black, green and chrome finishes to complement the color of your car. The chrome-plated caps are made from steel, and fit securely on the wheel with no chance of them coming off or rotating as you drive.
